Susan Hylok, 90, Flintville, died peacefully Sunday evening, February 5, 2012 at Marla Vista CBRF in Green Bay. The daughter of Anton and Mary (Sienion) Kapla was born November 16, 1921 in Suamico.
At the age of 19, she married Leo Hylok. The couple farmed in the Flintville area all of their married life, until Leo’s death in 1978. With the help of her family, Susan continued to farm until 2009, at which time she moved to Marla Vista Assisted Living in Green Bay.
Susan touched many hearts in her 90 years. She will always be remembered for her loving kindness, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. Susan could always be counted on to have a song to sing and home-grown vegetables to share with anyone who stopped in to visit. She was a fantastic cook and great gardener.
Susan is survived by one son, Gabriel Hylok, Suamico; one daughter, Theresa (Doug) DeBoth, Suamico; six grandchildren, Nicole, Andrew (Amber), Benjamin (Katie), and Matthew L. Hylok; Tammy (Dennis) Krueger and Jeremy (Valerie) DeBoth. She is further survived by nine great-grandchildren, Aden and Ashton Hylok, Nolan Hylok; Katelynn, Joshua, Johnathan and Hannah Krueger; Cassandra and Sho Shoni Elbe; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, on Sept. 20, 1978; eight brothers and three sisters; Mary (Charles) Kaczmarek, Anton Sr. (Marie) Kapla, Walter (Frances) Kapla, Edward (Ceil) Kapla, Benjamin Kapla, Stanley (Florence) Kapla, Sr. Valerian Kapla, Leonard (Eleanore) Kapla, Lester (Ester) Kapla, Augustina Kapla, and John Kapla.
Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, from 4-7p.m. Wednesday with a Closing Prayer service at 7:00p.m. The visitation continues after 9:30a.m. Thursday at SS Edward and Isidore Church, 3667 Flintville Rd, Flintville. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30a.m. Thursday at the church, Fr. Ralph Merkatoris presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Marla Vista for all of their loving care they provided and to Unity Hospice for making her final days on earth so very peaceful.


 
 

 

  Fred W. Preuss Sr., 81, Arbor Vitae, passed away on February 4, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Milwaukee on October 12,1930, to Adolph and Mary (Shields) Preuss. Fred was a decorated Korean War Veteran. He worked as a machinist at Falk Corporation in Milwaukee. On November 3, 1979 he married Vernie Jarosinski. After retirement, Fred and Vernie moved to Big Arbor Vitae Lake. He was an avid trap-shooter, fisherman, and hunter, and ended his trapshooting career with the Boulder Junction Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Vernie; son, Fredric Jr. (Jayne), and daughter Debra (Becky) and Grandson Derric. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Preuss.

Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9th. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hofa Park.

 

 

 

  Lorraine Banaszynski, 91, Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of Pulaski and Milwaukee, died peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Las Vegas.  The daughter of Frank and Anna (Tolksdorf) Nowak was born August 1, 1920 in the Town of Angelica.  On November 21, 1940 she married Roman Banaszynski in Pulaski.  The couple made their home in Milwaukee.  Lorraine was always pleasant and she always had a smile on her face.  She loved her children and her grandchildren.
    
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Dulio, Kenosha and Renee (Dennis) Maisa, Las Vegas, NV; a daughter-in-law, Loretta; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a brother, Chester (Jackie) Nowak, her good friend and companion, Edward Morel, Las Vegas; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
    
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman, on February 26, 2001; a son, Kenneth, on March 19, 2011, a son-in-law, Mario Dulio, in 1997, and several brothers and sisters.
    
Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 124 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 10th.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the church, Fr. Finian Zaucha, O.F.M. presiding.


 

Jerry (Gerald) Strehlow, 64, Pulaski, died Sunday evening, February 5, 2012 at a Green Bay hospital following a long battle with AML. The son of the late Louis and Emma (Guelker) Strehlow was born October 20, 1947 in the town of How in Oconto County.
He was a US Army Veteran and served his country in Vietnam. On June 26, 1970 he married Mary Katch in Green Bay. The couple resided in Pulaski. Jerry had been employed at De Pere Foundry until his illness. He loved his family and especially enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren camping, fishing, and hunting. He will be deeply and forever missed.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Tammy (Scott) Nachtwey, Seymour; Craig (Sue) Strehlow, Green Bay; Kari (Brian) Ambrosius, Pulaski; his grandchildren, Abby and Haylee Nachtwey; Max and Mikayla Strehlow; Kaiden Frisch and Braxton Ambrosius; one brother, Stan (Leila) Strehlow, Michigan; one sister, Donna (Oz) Schneider, Green Bay; and his mother-in-law, Marion Katch, Seymour. He is further survived by Mary’s family; Darlene (Don) Egnarski, Pulaski; Dale (Jean) Katch, Seymour; Dianne (Ray) Gronski, Pulaski; Dave (Sue) Katch, Seymour; Bobby Katch, Appleton; Jerry (Kathy) Katch, Elcho; Debbie (Steve) Buschel, Elcho; Danny (Renee) Katch, Freedom; Steve (Pat) Katch, Appleton; Sandy Hendzel, Seymour; “UGLY” Nancy (Fred) Liesgang, Seymour, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Katch and a sister-in-law, Bev Katch.

Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

     Fred J. Lau Sr., 66, Pembine, died peacefully and unexpectedly Monday, February 6, 2012 at his home. The son of Lillian (Behrend) Lau and the late Frederick A. Lau was born February 1, 1946 in Milwaukee.
     He was a US Navy Veteran and served his country in Vietnam. He had been employed at Evinrude in Milwaukee until his retirement, at which time he moved to Crivitz. Fred had recently moved to Pembine. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to hunt and fish. Fred was quite the charter who had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. He had a nickname for everyone. He especially loved his children and grandchildren.
     Fred is survived by two daughters and a son; Sherry (fiancé Scott Berg), Pulaski; Dawn (Michael) Landolt, Milwaukee; Fred J. (Marta Lazansky) Lau, Jr., Krakow; five grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Shawn, Amber and Alyssa; his mother, Lillian Lau, West Bend; two brothers, Tom and Keith; three sisters, Donna, Doreen, and Carol; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.  
     It was Fred’s request to have a celebration of his life. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at Augies Pub, 203 S. St. Augustine St., Pulaski, after 1:00p.m. Saturday, February 18.
