Obituary

Arlene S. Smith, 82, Town of Maple Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at a local hospital. The daughter of Herman and Elizabeth (Nickodem) Lasecki, was born at home in Shawano County on June 13, 1941.

Arlene grew up in the Pulaski area and graduated from Pulaski High School with the class of 1959. On May 28, 1960, she married Cyril Smith at St. Stanislaus Church in Hofa Park. Following graduation, Arlene worked at Northern Shoe in Pulaski for a couple of years and then helped Cy farm on his family farm.

A lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Church, Arlene was very involved with her parish. For many years she was an altar caretaker and Eucharistic minister. Arlene was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening, polka dancing, and was an outstanding cook.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband of over 63 years, Cy Smith; four children: Jeffrey (Pam) Smith, Cindy (Doug) Walla, Scott Sr. (Lori) Smith, and Jamie Smith; seven grandchildren: Amanda (Adam) Rusch, Wendy Walla, Jarod Walla, Mackenzie Walla, Dan (Michelle) Piper, Scott Smith Jr., and Preston (Lauren) Smith; one great-grandson, Charlie Kitzman; two sisters-in-law: Janet Lasecki and Pat Lasecki; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Elizabeth; siblings: Eleanor Lasecki, Daniel (Anna) Lasecki, Evelyn (Nick) Hannegraf, Valentine "Bill" Lasecki, Harvey (Aurelia) Lasecki, Mary (Martin) Themer, Vernon "Pete" Lasecki, Rita (Clayton) Ingvalsen, and Ernest Lasecki.

Friends are invited to gather with family at St. Stanislaus Church, W1888 Hofa Park Rd., Seymour, on Tuesday, December 5, from 9-11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Fr. James Esser, O.F.M. presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to nurses Jenny and Ali at DaVita Care for the wonderful care given to Arlene.
