Obituary

Benjamin J. Berendsen, 37, of Howard, passed away December 4, 2024. The son of John and Lori (Buettner) Berendsen was born on August 22, 1987, in Green Bay.

Benjamin grew up in Howard and was a 2005 graduate of Bay Port High School. In his younger years, he would paint for his dad with his younger brother. In 2021, he started his own residential and commercial painting business, Color Me Up LLC.

His pride and joy were his 3 children. You could see his love for them in everything he did, and his eyes lit up every time he would talk about them. He was known as "Uncle Screnny" by his nephews and spent many summers pitching baseballs and joining right in with their mischievous chaos. He enjoyed smoking meats, cooking, baking, and was often referred to as "Benny Crocker". He always had something homemade to share.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed golfing and watching the Packers. He was a self-taught guitar player and wrote his own music. He was extremely intelligent, and full of ideas with endless creative projects, and always had a way to DIY something.

Benjamin was many things to many people, and you could always count on his quick wit when you needed a good laugh.

Survivors include his parents: John and Lori; his son, Greyson; his fiancé, Courtney Komorowski and their children, Emerson and Vivian; four siblings: Tyler (Amanda) Berendsen and their children, Kamdyn and Korbyn; Hannah (Ashton) Canales and their children, Griffin and Maverick; Amy (Rob) Salesky and her children, Nathan and Mariah; and Erik (Erika) Berendsen, and their children, Macy, Hadley, and Kale; Brazilian sister, Luisé  Dalé; his two four-legged companions, Howie and Mooski; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and other family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Berendsen and his maternal grandparents, Otto "Bing" and Geraldine "Tina" Buettner.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, on Wednesday, December 11, from 4-7 p.m. To honor Benjamin, please wear St. Louis Cardinals or red, as it was his favorite color.
