Obituary

Deacon Robert "Rob" Hendricks, 66, passed peacefully close to home on August 12, 2026, after a long health journey. Rob is a beloved husband of over 41 years to Phyllis, a loving father to Jaclyn Hendricks, Kristyn (Matt) Elbe, and Bob (Allie) Hendricks, a devoted grandpa to Archer, Remy, Robby, Jackson and Baby Hendricks (expected soon).

Rob served his parish, Ss. Edward and Isidore, as a Deacon for the last six years and a parishioner for over 20 years.  With his vast knowledge and brainpower (he made us put that in there) he served as a mentor and catechist for the Christian formation program for youth. He was also active in the food pantry and many other activities in parish life and you would often find him flipping burgers behind the grill at the church picnic or at the drive-through pet blessings.

Rob's love of music streamed through many adventures, from his own band performing in high school and college, to his successful business, Tango, DJing around Wisconsin weddings, schools and events to the Howard-Suamico and Pulaski school district sporting events. He was always playing his Van Halen and Sammy Hagar and passing his love of 70's and 80's rock down to his kids and grandkids.

Rob was born in Tigerton, WI and, after graduating high school in 1978, he attended UW Stevens Point graduating with a bachelors in Business Administration in 1985, where he met Phyllis and married after graduation. The couple called Suamico home. His professional career was economic development for Native American governments and was successful in ventures such as OTIE, which was awarded one of the Architect and Engineering services IDIQ contracts from USAF. While working, Rob also successfully finished his masters at UW Green Bay for Business Management and Certified Economic Development in 2002, completed the Emmaus Program as a Commissioned Minister of Religious Education in 2008, as well as his Master of Theological Studies from St. Norbert College in 2020.  He received his deaconate training and ordination through Silver Lake College and the Green Bay Diocese in 2020. He retired as the business manager for St. Agnes Parish in Green Bay in 2025 to focus on being a Deacon.

Rob is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, his siblings: Mary (Roger) Jameson, Barb (James) Stern, Tom (Mary) Hendricks, and Claire (Mark) VandenHeuvel, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Jeanne Hendricks, and grandparents, Cecelia Hendricks and Clarence and Mary Roeske.

His sense of humor, knowledge and leadership will be missed dearly.

Friends are invited to gather with family at Ss. Edward and Isidore Church, 3667 Flintville Rd., Suamico, on Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon with Fr. Scott Valentyn presiding and Fr. Paul Demuth concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

We want to put a special thank you to his healthcare team at Select Specialty the last several months, specifically Ester, Tanya, Virgie, Mamo, Kara and Laurie for their above and beyond dedication of visiting on their breaks and days off and their love and support to not only Rob but to Phyllis, as well. There was nothing more comforting than hearing their voices boom across the floor when they felt like Rob was not being cared for to   their   level of care, or watching Ester dance to VanHalen's "Jump" to get Rob going. Tanya's stories to lighten any mood and Virgie and Mamo's comfort and willingness to always jump in, even when they weren't assigned to Rob were much appreciated. Mamo came to the rescue many times when he was not on dad's room.  Thank you to Deacon Gerard, who we met by chance in Chicago when he was with family in ICU next door to Rob. It was wonderful when he found out a fellow Deacon was there. He came to the room often to pray and talk to our family and even made several very long trips back to check in and make sure we were doing ok. To Mike and Amy Tallistch goes a big thank you for their hospitality and generosity in giving up their home (and peace and quiet) for several months while we were displaced. We are grateful for the generosity of Brian and Erin Weller and support of Phyllis' siblings. To the neighbors who took care of our home in Suamico while we were away, including storm control and snow removal in order to remove something off of our plate, thank you.

To Mary and Roger Jameson thank you for always being at our side and our strength when we had none. Mary was on a flight at the drop of a hat anytime she sensed things were over whelming or we were struggling. She stayed for weeks, even months at a time being bed side with Rob and right next to the family every step of the way. Living out of hotels and dealing with this hardship was no easy task but one you stepped up to when we needed you most. We love you and thank you.

Lastly thank you to dad's friends, family and Parish who stepped up in ways we could not believe. Your help and support brought comfort and support and brought him close to home when he eventually passed.  That is community, that is faith. Rob would always say the right people will enter your life at the right time. Timing happens for a reason and we witnessed that firsthand during this difficult journey. Thank you will never be enough.
