Obituary

Donald P. Vogt, 73, of Pulaski, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 30, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay. The son of Phillip and Johanna (Spritke) Vogt was born on May 27, 1951, in Milwaukee.

Don grew up in south Milwaukee and was a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy on July 22, 1969. He served as a reactor operator on a submarine in the Mediterranean until his honorable discharge on May 16, 1975. Don met Linda Wirtz in 1980; the couple later married on June 16, 1984.

In 1975, Don worked as a Veterans Service Officer in the city of Milwaukee. He attended UW-Milwaukee for a short time and then UW-Oshkosh where he received a BA in Accounting.

In his early years, Don worked at Metro-Clean, in Milwaukee, a company his father was co-owner of. After obtaining his degree, he worked in accounting for various companies before spending 19 years at Good Humor – Breyers in both Green Bay and at their Sikeston, MO, ice cream plant until his retirement in 2017.

Don enjoyed being an usher at St. Patrick's Oratory in Green Bay. He also enjoyed HO model trains and woodworking. He liked spending time vegetable – gardening and was a great cook. Don also liked history and was a Civil War buff; he was able to visit several battle fields.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda; a son, Benjamin (Hilary) Vogt; his sister, Debra (Rick) Winkler; uncle, David (Heather) Spritke; two brothers-in-law: Peter (Connie) Wirtz and Daniel (Kim) Wirtz; a sister-in-law, Joanne Wirtz and her husband, Pat Boex; five nephews and one niece.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Ann Wirtz; and a brother-in-law, John Wirtz.

Friends are invited to gather with family at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, on Saturday, January 4, from 2-4 p.m.

The Funeral Mass for Don will be held at St. Patrick Oratory, 211 N. Maple Ave., Green Bay, on Wednesday, January 8, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to give a big thank you to St. Mary's 5 th floor, 3 rd floor ICU, 3 rd floor, and Don's oncology doctors.
