He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Bona Council #4439 in Pulaski.

James is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, William and Ursula, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond (Betty) Gillis, Charles (Joyce) Gillis, and Russell (Cleo) Gillis; three sisters: Marie (Bill) Billodeau, Lorraine (Dick) Lindbo, and Evelyn (Cletus) Laabs; and a special friend, Jo O'Brien.
