Obituary

Jean Schaden, 77, Town of Chase, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at a Green Bay hospital following a short illness. The daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Burbey) LeBreck was born May 5, 1946, and baptized Dorothy Jean. She grew up in Green Bay, where she was a 1964 graduate of West High School.

On May 1, 1965, she married Robert Schaden at St. Patrick Church in Green Bay. After living in Chicago, Green Bay, and Suamico for short periods of time, Bob and Jean built their home and settled in the Town of Chase. Jean worked as a CNA at San Luis Manor in Green Bay for many years and at Woodhaven CBRF in Pulaski for a short time. She had also been employed at the Pulaski Co-Op Shell Station.

Jean and Bob were Chase Challenger 4-H leaders for 20 years. The couple also belonged to St. Joseph Parish in Chase, moving to St. Maximilian Parish in Sobieski when the parishes consolidated.

A very caring mom, Jean was always worried about her kids (some more than others!). She was a good cook and baker, loved her pets, and enjoyed fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. She also liked traveling and was especially fond of  visiting Bob's relatives in Canada at their bison ranch.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; two sons and one daughter: Ron (Denise Servais) Schaden, Green Bay, Roger Schaden (Karen Birr), Wausaukee, and Barb Schaden (Mike "Taz" Skalitzky), Sobieski; her grandson, Logan Schaden, Green Bay; two sisters: LaVonne (Jim) Hamlin, Green Bay and Joan (Jerry) Schmidt, Oconto Falls; Bob's family: Howard (Nona) Schaden, Oconto, Norma Peters, Suamico, Dale (Lori) Schaden, Oconto Falls, and Nancy Schaden, Little Suamico; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by an infant son; one brother, Lynn LeBreck; two sisters: Rita and Mary LeBreck; and four brothers-in-law: Don and Richard Schaden, Dave Bredael, and Thomas Peters.

Friends are invited to gather with the family at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Sobieski, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18 th . The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Fr. Francis Nusi presiding. Jean will be buried at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chase.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bellin Hospital 1 st Floor Staff and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care.
