Judy Slezewski Smith, 87, Pulaski, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at her home. Judy was born February 10, 1939, to the late Joseph and Helen (Slusarek) Szcepanski.

Judy was a 1957 graduate of Pulaski High School. She grew up in Suamico, where she met the love of her life, Tony Slezewski. The couple married and had one son, Jed. Judy and Tony enjoyed more than 20 wonderful years together, filled with traveling, dancing, hosting parties, spending time with her poodles, and simply enjoying life until Tony’s passing in 1981.

Judy began her working career at the Northern Shoe Factory in Pulaski. Over the years, she held many waitressing positions, including at Bob’s American Way, Cable Hogue, Rock Gardens, and Stix and Ribs, where she made many lifelong friends.

While working at Stix and Ribs, Judy met Bill Smith. They later married and, together, owned and operated BJ’s Café in Pulaski for many years until Bill’s passing.

In her younger years, Judy and her brother, Dick, played polka music together, with Judy on the drums. She enjoyed riding her horse, “Star,” boating, water skiing on the bay, crab boils, lounging by the pool, and spending time with family in Suamico. Judy also loved getting dressed up and going to a supper club for a nice meal and a good Manhattan.

Judy is survived by her son, Jed (Renee) Slezewski, Pulaski; grandson, Mason Slezewski, Bonduel; two sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends including Leon Hussin.

In addition to her parents, Joseph and Helen Szcepansk, Judy was preceded in death by her two husbands, Tony Slezewski and Bill Smith; and two brothers, Daniel and Richard Szcepanski.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Judy’s life at the Memorial Park Pavilion, 651 S. St. Augustine St., Pulaski, on Sunday, September 27, from 12-3 p.m., a light lunch will be served.

Judy’s family would like to thank everyone that helped care for her as her dementia and illness progressed.
