Obituary

Leonard E. Radecki, 93, Howard, died Sunday, October 22, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay with his family at his side.

The son of John and Bertha (Czajkowski) Radecki was born September 12, 1930, in Pulaski and was a 1948 graduate of Pulaski High School. After two years of college, Leonard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his discharge from the service, Leonard moved back to Pulaski. He met his sweetheart, Janet Rotter, at a family wedding in Pulaski. The couple was married on February 4, 1956, at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Pulaski. Leonard and Janet made their home in Green Bay, and then in Howard. Leonard had been employed at Wisconsin Optical Service (WOS) in Green Bay for many years, until retiring in 1992.

Leonard had a dry sense of humor and could be just a little stubborn. He enjoyed more than an occasional trip to the casino and taught several of his nieces and nephews how to play Blackjack. He loved running; he started in his 40's and continued through his 60's, competing in two Twin City Marathons in Minneapolis and several 10K races in the Green Bay area. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling, and polka dancing. Pulaski Polka Days was one of his favorite times of the year. He was also an avid Packers and Brewers fan. If you knew Leonard, you knew he was a meticulous yard/lawn "sculptor." His lawn resembled the 18 th green at Augusta National.

In addition to his wife, Janet, survivors include his daughter, Lynn Radecki, Minneapolis, MN; his granddog, Tori; a sister-in-law: Sue Radecki, Santa Fe, NM; Janet's family: Mike (Linda) Marnocha, Pulaski, Dr. John (Jean) Marnocha, Green Bay, and Janice Rotter, Green Bay; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Art (Ann), Richard, and Chester Radecki; two sisters: Jean (Bob) Schuppe and Lucille (Bob) LeMense; Janet's family: Lois Depner, Shirley (Bob) Davis, Joyce Murphy, Bob (Marilyn) Rotter, Gretchen Marnocha, Barbara Marnocha, and Tom Rotter.

Friends are invited to gather with the family at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. The visitation continues at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Green Bay. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday with his nephew, Abbot Dane Radecki, O.Praem. presiding. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Assumption B.V.M. Cemetery, Pulaski, with military honors by the Pulaski Area Veterans.
