Leonard “Lenny”
Szprejda
Jan 12, 1941 — Aug 1, 2026
Leonard L. Szprejda, 85, of Pulaski, died Saturday, August 1, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. The son of Florian and Harriet (Homel) Szprejda was born on January 12, 1941, in Shawano Co.
Lenny grew up in the Pulaski area and graduated from Pulaski High School. On January 9, 1971, he married the love of his life, Mary Lynn Verhagen, at Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Green Bay.
Lenny worked at Procter & Gamble in Green Bay for a couple of years, but when they wouldn't give him time off to go racing, he decided they were the ones with the problem and quit. He spent the next few years building homes before returning to what he loved most: taking over the family farm in the Township of Angelica.
In his younger years, Lenny looked forward to Wednesday night volleyball at Glenbrook and was a proud member of the Drag-On race crew at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna. He also served as the unofficial ambassador for Dove chocolates, rarely missing an opportunity to hand one out to anyone willing to chat.
Lenny had a lifelong passion for racing and cars and was a devoted John Deere enthusiast. He could often be found cruising the neighborhood on his ATV—officially "going for a ride," but everyone knew he was just making sure he hadn't missed anything. He never turned down a trip to Dairy Queen for ice cream or Taco Tuesday at Mountain Bay Restaurant. Lenny lived life on his own terms, by his own rules, and left behind countless stories, smiles, and memories that will continue to be shared for years to come.
Survivors include his three daughters: Jennifer Szprejda (special friend, Jerry), Heather (Glen) Kraning, and Danielle (Tony) Nooyen; his grandchildren: Nicole (Whitney) Wolfgram, Brandon Kraning, and Tony Nooyen; a brother, Ralph Szprejda; two sisters: Alice (Lyle) Husar and Arlene (Allen) Blaser; two brothers-in-law, Dale Verhagen and James J. Verhagen; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
In addition to his wife, Mary Lynn and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Harriet Nooyen; father and mother-in-law, John and Fern Verhagen; a sister-in-law, Judy Szprejda; and a brother-in-law, William Verhagen.
Friends are invited to gather with family at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, on Sunday, August 16, from 2-5 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. with Fr. James Esser, O.F.M. presiding.
Lenny's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the St. Vincent ICU, 7th Floor, and 8th Floor, as well as the Unity Hospice team, for the compassionate care and kindness they showed Lenny throughout his journey. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Stephanie "Stacy" for the exceptional love, care, and support she provided to Leonard.
