Lorraine
Pasowicz
Oct 18, 1929 — Feb 2, 2025
Lorraine T. Pasowicz, 95, Pulaski, passed away peacefully at a local hospital on Sunday, February 2, 2025, surrounded by family. The youngest of nine children, she was born of Polish immigrants, Frank and Agata Barabas on October 18, 1929, in Chicago, IL.
Lorraine grew up in Chicago and graduated from Steinmetz High School. Although she only graduated from high school, she was always a student and strived to be in peoples lives and current times. On June 30, 1951, she married Paul Pasowicz, Jr. in Chicago after meeting him at a dance. The couple moved to the Pulaski area in 1969. She worked as a bookkeeper for Karcz Ford for over 25 years, until her retirement.
Lorraine was very devout in her faith. A longtime member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish in Pulaski, she belonged to the St. Anne Society and the Council of Catholic Women, and also sang in the Resurrection Choir. Lorraine was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Pulaski. She volunteered her time in the community, working for blood drives and for elections. She was politically active and enjoyed good political conversations. Lorraine was also the treasurer for the Adult Activity Center in Pulaski and volunteered as a tutor for the Pulaski Community School District.
An avid reader since childhood, Lorraine could always be found reading a book, newspaper, or her iPad. She enjoyed spending time with her book club friends, of which she was an original member, and was certain to attend all club parties. She also loved to dance; an excellent dancer to the end. Lorraine's friends could always count on her to attend plays and concerts in the area.
Lorraine was very proud of her Polish heritage and cooked outstanding Polish dishes and baked for many local bake sales. She liked traveling, especially on the PACE bus trips. Music was a favorite; it was always on at the house, and she would say "there's always a song for everything". She enjoyed attending concerts or Music in the Park in the summer months. She cherished her time with grandkids, playing croquet, badminton, and kickball.
Smart, funny, quick-witted, vibrant, wise, loving, and giving, best describe Lorraine. She was a strong woman and role model in so many ways. She would always tell her children, "You have to be curious." She loved her family very much and that love was reciprocated by them.
Survivors include three sons: Stephen (Julie) Pasowicz, Green Bay, Paul (Susan) Pasowicz, Suamico, and James (Wendy) Pasowicz, Suamico; a daughter, Carole Pasowicz, Pulaski; seven grandchildren: Samantha Pasowicz, Kristine (Treston) Wobig, Andrew (Yan) Pasowicz, Erin (Sasha) Druva, Daniel (Stephanie) Pasowicz, John Pasowicz, and Ryan (Rachel) Pasowicz; eight great-grandchildren: Jules, Sebastian, Zane, Brycen, and one on the way. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her husband, Paul Pasowicz, Jr., and her parents, Frank and Agata, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; siblings: Ann (Ed) Konkel (Joe Walsh), Joan (Jack) Susarrey, Wanda (Stanley "Dave") Suterko, Esther (Eddie) Podraza, Virginia (Wally) Podraza, Joseph (Kitty) Barabas, Chester (Marion) Barabas, Ted Barabas; and a brother-in-law, Edward J. (Maurine "Suz") Pasowicz.
