Marlene A. Berna, 88, Pulaski, passed away at home on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The daughter of Edward and Anna (Losselyong) Dietz was born on June 6, 1935, in Greenville. She was a 1953 graduate of Hortonville High School.
On Oct 27, 1956, Marlene married Frank Berna Jr. at St Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville. The couple farmed for about a year, then started a construction business in 1962, which they operated until 1999. Construction was their heart and soul.
In her younger years, Marlene loved showing cattle for 4H. She was a member of the Pulaski Polish Legion, Catholic Knights, and a longtime member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish. Marlene enjoyed construction, gardening, baking, playing practical jokes, and watching birds.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; a son, John (Patricia) Berna; five grandchildren: Janelle (Nick) Worman, Mark (Casi) Berna, Jenae Berna, Marie Berna, Michael Berna; and one great-grandchild, Milly Berna; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rose Jaworski, Mary Ann Szczepanski, Jeanette (Tom) Scott, Delores (Larry) Jeanis, Dan (Theresa) Berna, Norb (Barb) Berna, Betty Krueger, Donna Berna, Dee Berna, and Regina Berna.
In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim (Joann) Berna; siblings: Wendell (Kristianne) Dietz, Ken Dietz, Florence Murra, Rosemary Berry, and Marion (Pete) Williamson; brothers-in-law: Ed Berna, Richard Berna, Tony Berna Sr., John Yurek, John Jaworski, Emil Szczepanski, and Jim Krueger.
Friends are invited to gather with the family at Assumption BVM Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, on Saturday, March 23, from 9-11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. with Fr. James Esser, O.F.M. presiding. Burial will be at a later time in the parish cemetery.
