Mary Ann Szczepanski, 84, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Country Villa Assisted Living in Pulaski, following a year and a half long battle with cancer. The daughter of Frank, Sr. and Mary (Yurek) Berna was born October 14, 1940, in Pulaski.
Mary Ann was one of 11 brothers and sisters. She worked for the Pulaski School District at Glenbrook and Sunnyside in many departments. Mary Ann was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Parish, as well as the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 337, Pulaski.
On August 22, 1959, Mary Ann married Emil Szczepanski. The couple had many adventures together, including traveling to Hawaii, camping with the Neugebauers / Bernas, snowmobiling, bowling, and dancing (both polka and jitterbug). They enjoyed most of their winter months as snowbirds in Arizona. Emil preceded her in death on September 22, 2014.
Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, weeding flowers and gardens, baking and cooking, canning, quilting, playing cards and dominos and, of course, the marble game, and occasionally winning at the casino.
Survivors include three daughters and one son: Karen (Perry) Baugnet, Sharon Szczepanski (Mike Stedl), Debbie (Bill) Larscheid and Dennis Szczepanski; four grandchildren: Brittany (Mike) Brien, Brandon Szczepanski, Noah Larscheid (girlfriend, Kiara Miller) and Danielle Larscheid; two great grandchildren: Michael and Alex Brien; brothers and sisters: Rose Jaworski, Jeanette (Tom) Scott, Dolores (Larry) Jeanis, Dan (Theresa) Berna, Norb (Barb) Berna, Betty Krueger, and sisters-in-law: Donna Berna and Regina Berna.
In addition to her husband, Emil, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Ed Berna, Richard (Dee) Berna, Tony Berna Sr., John Yurek, Frank Jr. (Marlene) Berna, brothers-in-law: John Jaworski and Jim Krueger.
Visitation will take place at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 119 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski on Monday, January 6, from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. James Vacco, O.F.M. presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to an organization that was special to Mary Ann.
