Matthew E. Konopka, 84, of Sahuarita, Arizona and formerly of Pulaski, died Friday, March 24, 2023. The son of the late Stanley and Phyllis (Dziubla) Konopka was born, May 5, 1938, in Krakow and graduated from Pulaski High School.
In his younger years, he worked on the family farm until October 16, 1961, when he was drafted into the US Army and served until his honorable discharge on September 27, 1967. He was a longtime employee of the US Postal Service in Green Bay. Matthew enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Cubs. He was a man of deep faith who made several religious pilgrimages to the Holy Land and the Blessed Virgin Mary Shrine in Medjurgorje, Bosnia.
Matt is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Harrie, Louie, Eddie, and Ted.
A High Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Oratory, 211 N. Maple St., Green Bay, on Friday, May 19, at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors rendered by the Pulaski Area Veterans will take place at 12 Noon at St. Casimir Cemetery, Krakow.
