Pablo Chavez, 70, of Oneida, passed away from natural causes at home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1956, in Cook Co., IL.
Pablo grew up in Oneida, where he was raised on the family farm by his great-aunt and uncle, Alex and Linda Cornelius. He attended Seymour High School and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17—despite the minor detail that he didn’t know how to swim. Apparently, that was just one more challenge he was willing to take on.
On April 24, 2005, Pablo married Pam Lieb. He worked for Wisconsin Public Service for more than 39 years before retiring in 2016. He also served as the unofficial “PR Man” for Another Round in Pulaski, a role that suited his outgoing personality and love of a good time perfectly.
Pablo was a proud member of Pulaski AMVETS Post 160 and was as an elder for the Oneida Nation. He enjoyed traveling, cutting the lawn, and, if there was grass to be cut, you could bet he was probably out there doing it. He was also a proud Crown Royal aficionado and never turned down an opportunity to go out to eat, enjoy a good drink, and have a good time. He loved visiting with friends.
Pablo lived life with a big personality, a good sense of humor, and a knack for making sure there was always a story to tell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pam; a son, Vincent Summers (significant other, Carrie); his grandchildren: Keanu and Sierra Summers and Dareious Moore; great-grandchild, Emerson Summers; sister-in-law, Carla Mortenson Lieb; his best friends, Ron and Janelle DeRuyter; and other family and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his great uncle and great aunt, Alex and Linda Cornelius and his in-laws: Nicholas and Gloria Lieb
Friends are invited to gather with family at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, on Saturday, October 24 from 1-5 p.m. with a service at 4:30 p.m. followed by a military salute to close the evening.
Online condolences may be offered to Pablo’s family at www.marnochafuneralhome.com or on the Marnocha Funeral Home Facebook page.
